Cabinet approves Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for research collaboration.

Context

To carry out the Academic programs and Research activities by involving students and faculty members in each institution, the Union Cabinet has approved the MoU between the Indian Institute of Space science and Technology (IIST) and The Delft University of Technology (TU Delft).

Key points of MoU

  • Students exchange program: The institutions may exchange students at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. They will mutually decide and discuss the areas of studies and credits to be pursued under the scheme. 
  • Dual Degree/Double Degree program: The Parties may develop a specialized curriculum to be pursued by the students for the award of an either undergraduate or postgraduate degree, in addition to the degree to be awarded by the home Institute.
  • Internships and project work: The Parties may design and develop the research of engineering project assignments that will be pursued by students during their stay in short term and as well as long term, in the partner institute.
  • Faculty exchange: The Partiers may consider a Faculty exchange program for offering the courses in the partner institute. The course contents will be developed jointly for the exchange course program.
  • Joint Research: The faculty members may identify the joint research program in common areas of interest with the defined duration.

Benefits of the MoU

  • The signing of this Agreement shall enable to pursuing the potential interest areas of cooperation in an exchange program, research, scientific materials, publications, and information.
  • This Agreement would help to develop a joint activity in research in the area of Science and Technology. 
  • The signed Agreement will provide the impetus for exploring the newer research activities and application possibilities in the field of Science and Technology.
