    • Odisha Govt’s GO SWIFT Portal Bags National E-Governance Award.
    • GO SWIFT has bagged the National e-Governance Silver award for the year 2019-20 under the Category-1 ‘Excellence in Government Process Re-engineering for Digital Transformation’ by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances of the Government of India (e-Governance division).
  • Who developed GO SWIFT Portal?

    • Industries Department of the Government of Odisha has developed an online Single Window portal, GO SWIFT i.e. Government of Odisha – Single Window for Investor Facilitation & Tracking, to promote a conducive business environment through transparency and time-bound clearances.
  • What does Go SWIFT do?

    • With the launch of GO SWIFT, the approval process for 34 services from 15 State government departments has been made online, including online application submission, payment, tracking and processing of applications.
    • The Portal provides updated information relating to latest rules, policy initiatives and reforms undertaken by the Govt. of Odisha to facilitate and handhold the investors.
    • All existing technological applications of the Industries Department including GO PLUS, GO SMILE, GO CARE, Automated Post Allotment Application, and State Project Monitoring Group portal have also been integrated with GO SWIFT.
    • The investors can also monitor the real-time status of their submitted applications through a Dashboard on the portal.
    • Further, a query management system has been integrated which mandates that any queries on an application shall be raised only once within 7 working days from the date of submission.
    • Further, GO SWIFT also allows for incentive application, and sanction under the Industrial Policy Resolution of 2015.
  • Why this portal received the award?

    • GO SWIFT has been acknowledged as a digital transformation tool that has changed an offline and manual intervention based process, involving undefined timelines and procedural delays, into a hassle free and paperless system that assures the user a responsive and transparent system delivering timely assistance through well synchronized team work.
    • This system has reduced the single window approval time to just 20 days on an average from 390 days a few years back.
    • The Government of India had already recognised GO SWIFT as a best practice and advised other states to emulate the same.
  • How does it impact business in Odisha?

    • Such innovative steps have started yielding results by the virtue of which, Odisha cornered 18 per cent of the virgin investments drawn by all states and also edged past Maharashtra as the most attractive destination for investments during H1 or the April-September period of FY20 which is a huge achievement for the State.
    • Odisha is the only state to have this solution which has been received very well by the Industries of the state.
    • Odisha is one of the few states in the country which has extended the industrial facilitation to the CSR administration by the Industries, through the GO CARE portal which is part of the GO SWIFT.
