Ayush Clinical Case Repository (ACCR) portal and Ayush Sanjivani App

Context

Ayush Ministry marked yet another milestone on Thursday by launching its’ Ayush Clinical Case Repository (ACCR) portal and the third version of AyushSanjivani App in a virtual event.

The repository and the upgraded version of Sanjivani app are a part of much larger digital health mission.

What is Ayush Clinical Case Repository?

  • It is a platform to support both Ayush practitioners and the public, this portal aims to portray the strengths of Ayush systems for treatment of various disease conditions.
  • Developed by: It is conceptualized and developed by the Ministry of Ayush.

Ministry of Ayush

  • The Ministry of Ayush was formed on 9th November 2014 to ensure the optimal development and propagation of Ayush Systems of health care.
  • It is the successor of the erstwhile the Department of Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy (ISM&H).
    • ISM&H was created in March 1995 and which was renamed as Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (Ayush) in November 2003, with focused attention for development of Education and Research in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy.
  • Further, it was renamed “Ministry of Ayush” on 13th April 2021, in view of the word ‘Ayush’ being widely accepted to cover various traditional and non-conventional systems of healthcare and healing, including Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy and Sowa-Rigpa, and thus the acronym ‘Ayush’ having become dispensable.

Significance of the Repository

  • Adoption of best approaches: This portal will facilitate posting of success stories/successfully treated cases by Ayush practitioners. These cases will help Ayush practitioners to know approaches adopted by their colleagues in treatment of various patients.
  • Informed choices: Public can also go through these cases and understand the strengths of various Ayush systems in treatment of various ailments/diseases and adopt informed choices for the treatment as and when required.
  • Awareness: The portal will help to spread awareness among the public and also trigger the thought process in other practitioners for adopting treatment approaches found successful by their peers. This covers all the seven systems of Ayush viz.
    • Ayurveda
    • Yoga
    • Naturopathy
    • Unani
    • Siddha
    • Homoeopathy
    • Sowa Rigpa

Ayush Sanjivani App

  • The Ayush Sanjivani App (Third Version) is now published on Google Play Store and iOS.
  • It is noticeable that this version facilitates a significant study/ documentation regarding the efficacy of selected Ayush interventions, including Ayush 64 and KabasuraKudineer medicines in the management of asymptomatic, mild to moderate Covid 19 patients.

AYUSH 64

  • AYUSH-64 is an Ayurvedic formulation which was developed by the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), the apex body for research in Ayurveda under the Ministry of Ayush, for management of Malaria.
  • This drug was repurposed as the ingredients showed notable antiviral, immune-modulator and antipyretic properties.
  • The in-silico study done on AYUSH-64 showed that about 35 out of 36 of its Phyto-constituents have high binding affinity against COVID 19 virus.
  • The formulation has also shown very promising results in Influenza like illness.
  • With the scientific evidence generated from 06 clinical studies across India, AYUSH-64 has been identified as a potential adjunct to standard care in the management of asymptomatic, mild and moderate COVID-19 to improve the clinical recovery and quality of life.

Kabasura Kudaneer

  • Kabasura Kudineer is a well-known Siddha medicine that consists of a whopping 15 herbal ingredients, each of them having unique characteristic features of its own.
  • But this Churnam is extensively aimed for boosting the lungs, improving respiratory mechanism and treating infectious conditions like cough, cold, fever and other respiratory infections.
  • This Churnam became quite well-known during the times of flu owing to its therapeutic and curative qualities.
