  • The Government of Nepal has decided to register a constitution amendment bill at the Parliament to amend Nepal’s map in the national emblem.
  • The bill will seek to amend Schedule 3 of the constitution to revise the country’s map in the national emblem as per a new political map Nepal.
  • The government of Nepal released Nepal’s new political and administrative map depicting Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura within Nepali borders.
  • The regions have been claimed by India as its own. Though both the countries had agreed to resolve the border disputes through a mechanism, it had been pending for long.
  • The cartographic dispute is based on differing interpretations of treaty signed by the British East India Company with the King of Nepal in 1816, which established the boundary between the two countries.
  • Nepal decided to release its new political map including those territories within Nepali borders after India earlier this month opened a road link via Lipulekh to Kailash Mansarovar in the Tibet Autonomous Region.

Verifying, please be patient.
