PM chooses Puducherry as host of National Youth Festival

Puducherry was chosen by the prime minister to host the 25th National Youth Festival. 

  • The 25th National Youth Festival is going to be held in Puducherry from 12 to 16 January 2022.


  • Around 7000 youth in the age group of 18 to 22 are expected to participate in this festival from across the country.
  • Around 500 youths from Puducherry will participate in the programme.
  • The Government of India organizes the National Youth Festival as a part of the National Youth Week celebrations. 
  • It is organized with the aim of spreading the concept of national unity, brotherhood, spirit of communal harmony, courage and courage among the youth.
  • This objective is achieved by organizing youth gatherings and encouraging them to participate in various activities.

History of National Youth Day

  • In 1984, the Indian Government first declared to celebrate the birthday of Swami Vivekananda i.e. 12 January as National Youth Day. Since then the day has been celebrated as National Youth Day all over the country. 
  • The main aim of the Government is to make a better future for the country by motivating the youths through the way of their life and ideas of the Swami Vivekananda.
  • It is a great way to wake up the eternal energy of the youths as well as to make the country developed.

National Youth Day: Theme

  • The Theme of 2021 is "YUVAAH – Utsah Naye Bharat Ka"
  • The theme of 2020 was "Channelizing Youth Power for Nation Building".
